Howard Legg
Dorset Council and Weymouth Town Council - Upwey & Broadwey
I was first elected to Weymouth and Portland Borough Council in 1988 and served continuously, representing Westham East, until 2012. During that time I was Mayor twice and spent six years as the briefholder for special projects. This included overseeing arrangements for hosting the sailing events in the 2012 Olympics. I was made an Honorary Alderman in 2012.
I was a County Councillor from 2009 to 2013 and also served as Vice chairman of the board of Weymouth and Portland Housing Company. I was a member of the board for twelve years.
I was elected to both the new Dorset Unitary Council and the Weymouth Town Council in 2019. I represent Upwey and Broadwey.
I live with my partner Trish (we've been together for nineteen years). I have one son and two grandchildren locally and one + two in the USA.
I was a Chartered Electrical Engineer working in Hong Kong, Zambia, Dubai, Peru and London. In 1987 I became a teacher at Wey valley school for ten years. Since then I've run my own business. I also have qualifications in Finance and Accountancy.
My guiding objectives have always been to improve everyone's Housing, Education and Health as they are critical circumstances that affect everything else a person is able to do during their lifetime.
